This kit includes everything you need to bring your Valve Index into the current decade and use face and eye tracking in social VR applications like VRChat.
No soldering, no messy USB hubs. Just install the components, set up the software, and you're ready to go. You won't need any additional parts besides what's included in this kit.

Please read the instructions, FAQ and safety information carefully before purchasing and make sure you understand them. Only order the kit if you feel confident modifying your Headset and have understood the information regarding IR radiation.

Capabilities

Performance can vary depending on the software you use, your face shape, lighting, facial hair, calibration or headset movement so I can’t guarantee perfect results for everyone. For Baballoonia, the current capabilities / problems are as follows:

Eye:

  • Eye movement – perfect, smooth, and reliable
  • Blinking – works well with adjusted thresholds; short blinks may be missed but rarely noticeable
  • Winking – mostly reliable with proper calibration
  • Half-closed eyes – not supported with current version
  • Eyebrows – not supported with current version

Face:

  • Expressions like smiling, puffed/sucked cheeks, showing teeth, mouth opening, tongue movement (up/down/left/right), and more work extremely well
  • Occasionally, mouth opening can trigger tongue detection, usually fixed by adjusting thresholds

Prescription lenses

Only current-generation prescription lenses from VROptician/VROptiker (roughly manufactured after 2020/2021) are supported.

If you own VROptician inserts, you can check your version here

If you do not own the current VROptician inserts and still want to use my kit, the only realistic option is to purchase current inserts from VROptiker. With the code „FaceFocusVR“ you get a 10% discount on Index lenses (This is NOT an affiliate code).

Hardware Requirements

I can’t give you exact details about the CPU or GPU requirements. Image processing, no matter what software you use, always uses some resources.

If your system is already running at its limit, you will lose FPS when using the eye or face tracking software. If your PC is not at its limit, you should not notice any major FPS difference.
